Bayshore Neurology Clinic was opened in 2022 as part of an expansion of Booth Neurology Clinic, in order to provide patients with a new location that offers more onsite parking, improved wheelchair access and easy access to medical services such as Dynacare labs, a pharmacy, a physiotherapist, a medical devices store in the same building. It is closer for patients living in the areas west of Ottawa, and is generally easily accessible via the 417 Highway.
Our group of physicians provide consultation services in General Neurology and in the subspecialty of Headache Medicine.
We serve Ottawa and the surrounding areas in Eastern Ontario and the Outaouais region in Quebec. Together with our sister clinic Booth Neurology, we have are one of the largest community neurology clinics in the province, both in terms of the number of physicians and number patients served.
Dr. Nguyen graduated from the Faculty of Medicine at the University of Western Ontario, in London, Ontario. He completed Neurology residency training at the University of Ottawa. Prior to this, he had completed training in Family Medicine at the University of Western Ontario, and worked as a family physician, emergency physician and hospitalist.
He has active privileges at the Ottawa Hospital as well as the Montfort Hospital. His main areas of clinical interest in Neurology are the management of spasticity and post stroke care, as well as headaches. He is also active in the training of medical students and residents in both English and French programs.
He is the founder of Bayshore Neurology clinic, which has become of the largest outpatient Neurology clinics within the province.
Dr. Nguyen is fluent in English, French and Vietnamese.
Dr. Parker graduated from medical school at McMaster University and completed her neurology residency training at the University of Ottawa. She completed her EMG certification with the Canadian Society of Clinical Neurophysiologists (CSCN). She has been part of Bayshore Neurology clinic since its inception.
She sees patients in her EMG clinic with peripheral nervous system disorders including mononeuropathies, plexopathies, radiculopathies, myopathies and neuromuscular junction disorders. She also sees patients with various neurological conditions such as epilepsy, multiple sclerosis, migraines (including performing botulinum toxin injections for chronic migraines), stroke, and Parkinson disease.
Dr. Parker is an associate in the Division of Neurology at The Ottawa Hospital. She works in the Neurovascular Unit (Stroke team), treating patients presenting with acute stroke.
She travels to Iqaluit, Nunavut several times per year to provide neurological care to the northern communities in the Baffin Island region.
She enjoys teaching trainees (medical students and residents) at Bayshore Neurology clinic, at The Ottawa Hospital and in Iqaluit neurology clinics.
